June’s Rural Business Shout Out:

Summer Style Inspiration

JUNE, 2020

Welcome back to this month’s Rural Business Shout Out if you’re returning, I hope you loved reading about May’s Rural Shoutout.  If this is your first time then a warm hello, these are one of my favourite outdoor and country inspired monthly blogs!

This month, we’re finally on our way out of lockdown in the UK, our favourite brands will hopefully start to see an increase in sales and we will be able to return to some form of normality. June’s Rural Business Shout Out brings you some items that have been tried, tested and come recommended by me. Inspired by this glorious sunshine we have been blessed with, these items are perfect for your summer wardrobe or around the house!

So, in no particular order…

Hartwell Countrywear – Layla Colourful Pheasant Cotton Shirt

What I love about this brand & product…Hartwell are fairly new to the outdoor and country world. They’re a British womenswear brand, introduced to me on Instagram by the gorgeous @estherinwales! Their luxury shirts are made from the finest cotton satin fabrics and designed exclusively in their UK studio. Their iconic prints are inspired by nature & the British countryside, which personally I think really sets them apart.

This shirt will see you through summer as well as winter, it’s a beautiful texture and fits well. True to size, I ordered a size 12 as I often have to size up to make sure the buttons don’t look tight around the bust, but this fits really well.

If you love playing with bold colours like me, make sure you also check out their Lydia Giraffe Shirt, which I paired with white jeans and Fairfax & Favor Khaki Monaco Wedges for a colourful summer look.

How much? £64.99

Yorkshire Feathers – ASYMMETRIC HEADBAND

What I love about this brand & product… I’m a sucker for country accessories, especially when they’re handmade and include feathers. Liz & Cath are so friendly, helpful and knowledgable that they even offer a bespoke service. Ideal for when we’re allowed back to the races, to have a custom made headpiece to match your outfit. Their feathers & cartridges are sourced from local game shoots in Yorkshire.

This beautiful asymmetric headband has been created using hen pheasant tails feathers trimmed into shields.

Liz & Cath also host workshops, travelling to your requested venue where you can learn to make your own beautiful headband!

How much? £23.00

What I love about this brand & product…Founded in 2017, with an aim of creating fashionable sportswear to be worn anywhere, anytime. This is exactly what Justine & Teresa have accomplished and I love the colours that run throughout their range of products.

I have been living in this quarter zip throughout lockdown, whether it’s for walking the dogs, nipping to the shops or as an extra layer sitting outside in the evenings. These jumpers are made from 100% Merino wool and are mid-weight. I particularly like the navy detailing on the V of the collar & the gold zip goes perfectly with the Fairfax & Favor Tan Mini Windsor!

How much? £135.00 (use code: RURAL10 at checkout for 10% off their website!)

What I love about this brand & their products… Sally saved me last minute when I was hunting for a ‘hare’ related gift. She managed to get together a beautiful gift box full of white bone china accessories, all beautifully decorated with a monochrome hare on the front. When small businesses go the extra mile for you, there’s just something special that keeps you shopping with them.

Sally knows how passionate I am about all things gin, shooting & pheasant related so I was over the moon when I received these goodies! If you’re like me, you like to keep your blank cards stocked up at home so you always have one to hand for any occasion that pops up!

This beautiful gin glass washes well, is a lovely thickness and I can’t stop admiring the detailed design.

I always struggle to find gift ideas, especially when I’m buying for men but there are some lovely items on this website, which you can put together as a gift hamper. Stress-free shopping ideas that are guaranteed to make someone smile.

Cards £2.50 each (or 10% off when you buy 10 or more)

Shooting Gin Glass £21.99

Pheasant Socks £12.00

Country Clothing Summer

What I love about this brand & their products… I had often seen this stylish brand at trade shows, showcasing their famous Parka Coats (both fur & faux fur!) and always admired Alex & Linda’s chic collection of women’s clothing.

If you spotted this beautiful smock dress on my Instagram last week, you will know I fell in love with it straight away. I’m 5ft 3, it comes just below my knee with a fish tail hem. The tassel tie-neck detail is a gorgeous addition, I left it in a loose knot & added a belt round the waist for a more fitted look. This summer staple outfit comes in a flattering material and is super easy to dress up or down!

Who said leather jackets were for winter? This beautifully soft jacket is extremely favourable of all body shapes and is an ideal layer for the chilly summer evenings but will also be a staple piece in your wardrobe all year round. It was a slight shimmer to the finish, meaning you can also dress this up or down, with a dress or denim, it would make you look fabulous. It’s also available in Burgundy & Black.

How much?

Dress – £120.00

Leather Jacket – £280.00 using code LEATHER20 at checkout (usually £350.00)!

What I love about this brand & product… Finally, a versatile farming work shirt that celebrates and caters to women in agriculture. I spend a lot of time outdoors, which often means I’m ruining nice clothes or wearing my boyfriend’s to save mine! I wasn’t the only one with this struggle as it’s exactly why Claire launched Ballybar! She hopes to build a wardrobe for farmers with items that can last season after season, withstanding all weather conditions and keeping us all comfortable!

I opted for this beautifully girly blush pink, but the work shirt is also available in a gorgeous Sky Blue. They’re true to size, and work tucked into jeans or over the top. I particularly like that it’s only buttoned to half way, meaning it’s even easier to put on in the morning and you’re less likely to catch/loose the buttons whilst working! This is a true outdoor and country brand that I can’t wait to see more of in the future.

How much? £34.56 using code: CHLOE15 for 15% off!
